We use a 5/4 board which is a thicker trim and trim first around the windows and doors then install the siding so that it bumps up to the trim instead of the window, this creates a cleaner look and itвЂ™s less likely to create leaks around the window. Other companies use a 4/4 board which they put over the siding but with this type of installation, water can find its way into the framing around windows and doors.
